Dorset One World Festival is coming on Saturday 1st August 2015 – 11-6pm – FREE in the Borough Gardens in Dorchester!
Final preparations are being made to the Dorset One World Festival, a celebration of the diversity of cultures in Dorset through world music, dance, food and activities.
The programme of live music, dance and cultural activities spans the globe including Ukraine, China, Africa, India, Latvia and Nepal. Workshops include African and Polish Dance, introduction to Traditional Indian music and Chinese crafts. The headline band - Dubheart from Bournemouth who recently won the award for the best reggae band in Europe.
You can enjoy a wide selection of cuisines from the Global Food Village whilst soaking up the cultural sights and sounds in the lovely setting of the Borough Gardens, Dorchester.
The kids and youth area has been expanded this year with sports and crafts activities, bouncy castle from the Action Van, Rainbow Arts and Bearcat Collective.
Some of the many highlights are the
-Tug of War - Ghurkas Compete against local teams
- Celebrity Chinese Master Chef - Andy Chu - Cook off competition
- Nepal Art Project Exhibition to mark the 200 years of friendship between Britain and Nepal.
A free community event that has something to appeal to all ages and cultures.

Dorset Kerala Community is organising a Organ Donation Campaign (please refer to the details on the poster). This is done all over UK, aiming at mainly Asians. There will be an event in Poole next Friday, 5th June from 12.45pm to 3.00pm at the Canford Heath Community Hall.
The event aims to help to pass on the message about the need for organ donation to benefit the black community.
DRAGON BOAT FESTIVAL
on Sunday, 28th June 2015 from 1.15pm to 5pm at Moordown Community Centre (Free entrance)

NEPALI ARTS OPEN DAY 10AM to 5PM Saturday 23rd May 2015 in Bournemouth:
Open Day at Meyrick Hall in Bournemouth featuring exhibition of Bournemouth and Poole College Nepali-inspired artwork created by the students of the Art and Design Department and recently featured on BBC Television News. Nepalese food produced by Bournemouth’s first Nepalese restaurateur Anil Lamgade. The Open Day will be followed by an evening event:

7.30 Evening entertainment begins with presentation by members of the local Nepali community about the UKNFS art programme and the earthquake crisis.

8.00 Traditional Thai songs from local musician Yui Kharlberg
8.30 Kaia Viera and Tim Crook, original British folk duo.
9.15 Auction hosted by representative from Bournemouth Football Club (AFCB) to include artwork by internationally renowned artists Govinda Sah, Subash Thebe, Alan Mercel-Sanca and also an AFCB football shirt signed by Max Richie
9.45 Solo performance by Andy Bennett, most famed for his work with Ocean Colour Scene
10.30PM End of evening entertainment followed by drinks at the bar

This event has been organised in conjunction with the UK Nepal Friendship Society http://uknfs.org/, It’s All About Culture (IAAC), Boscombe Arts, Meyrick Hall and Bournemouth and Poole College.
