Bridging Communities, Borough of Poole Museum & Arts Services and local
artist Jason Miller have joined together to help local people express their experience
of spirituality today.
The project was created by Bridging Communities as a way for the people of Poole to
explore and understand themselves as a spiritual community, moving into the future.
A series of creative workshops have taken place, which explore thoughts, feelings and ideas around the spiritual in life. These have been hosted by a number of community and faith groups locally and a selection of this work has been curated into a temporary exhibition of community creativity by local painter and sculptor, Jason Miller. Alongside the creative community workshops, students from Poole High School and members of The Poole Passion have relished the opportunity to explore personal feelings and spiritual themes under the inspirational guidance of local performance artist, Sharon Muiruri. The SWDMCN Annual General Meeting is taking place on Thursday the 21st May from 6pm-8pm at the Town Hall in Dorchester. This year the guest speaker is Nigel Costley, South West TUC Regional Secretary. Nigel will be giving a very interesting presentation ‘’Talking about Immigration in the South West” where he will explore some of the myths and misconceptions about migration.

South West Dorset Multicultural Network is hosting its Gypsy Roma Traveller History Month celebration event on Friday the 29th May in Borough Gardens in Dorchester from 12-4pm. This event will include the opportunity to get up close to some traditional Gypsy Caravans and try out some traditional Gypsy skills such as willow weaving and flower making. There will be a range of displays and photographs as well as story telling and live music. This will be a great family event and chance to learn more about Dorset’s local history.

The Kala Chethena Kathakali Company is one of the world's foremost Indian theatre companies credited with developing Kathakali in the UK through their successful tours. Kathakali meaning story - play, ambraces drama, dance, music, visuals and ritual to create the most exotic, visually exciting and powerful forms of theatre. Colourful costumes and elaborate three dimensional make-up, known as Chutti, transforms the actors into gods, kings, devils and princesses. They tell universal stories from the Hindu epics featuring the struggle between good and evil through gesture, emotion and incredible facial expressions.
