Hours: 1.5 hours per week
Term: 11 months
Salary: £9 per hour

Role description
With the support of the Project Coordinator, advocates will be required to identify ‘hidden’ ethnic minority carers living in the West Dorset and Weymouth and Portland area and offer weekly advocacy sessions to enable these carers to register and access the available support. Training will be provided.

Person specification
Essential
-    A demonstrable interest in carers’ issues
-    An understanding of the provision available for carers
-    Experience/ understanding of working with/ supporting people from a diverse range cultural and religious backgrounds
-    Ability to work flexible hours
-    Basic IT literacy
Desirable
-    Good contacts with ethnic minority people and communities living in the West Dorset and the Weymouth and Portland area
-    Fluency in a second language/non-English mother tongue
-    Personal experience as a carer
-    Own transport
DBS checks will be carried out on successful applicants prior to appointment
